If a fire is discovered
The alarm is raised immediately and everyone is alerted. Evacuation starts without delay, and emergency services are called as soon as it is safe.
Leaving safely
Adults support children according to their age and needs. We use the nearest safe escape route and the stairs, never the lift. Evacuation is not delayed for belongings or routines such as meals, sleep or nappy changing.
Assembly and supervision
Children, staff and visitors gather at the designated assembly point. A headcount is carried out immediately and children remain supervised. Nobody re-enters until emergency services declare it safe.
Preparedness
Escape routes are kept clear and checked daily. Fire drills practise different routines and staffing scenarios. Registers, a phone and the evacuation backpack are taken only if immediately accessible without delaying evacuation.
Details still to confirm
[Current evacuation arrangements, assembly point and staff carrying procedure require confirmation against the current fire risk assessment]
